With just days left on the scoreboard, young readers still have time to slide into home. The Hit the Books Reading Program, a partnership between the San Bernardino County Library (SBCL) and the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino, is heading into the final inning and will remain open through Saturday, March 7, 2026. That means families still have a chance to step up to the plate and turn their reading streaks into a grand slam of free baseball tickets.
Since launching Jan. 26, the program has invited children and teens ages 0–17 to knock childhood literacy out of the park. The game plan is simple: for every five books read and logged in Beanstack — along with a checkout receipt showing five books borrowed from a county library branch — participants earn a special Hit the Books bookmark.
And that bookmark is their ticket to the big leagues.
